TEACHERS  COLLEGE  ART  FOR  UNIVERSAL  PRE-K

COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

Teachers College Art for Universal pre-K (TCART4UPK) is a non-profit art and education initiative that connects art educators to universal pre-K schools to create permanent art installations. These collaborations are uniquely tied to NYC Department of Ed. curriculum. Our projects provide public venues at which artists can showcase their work, while simultaneously providing hands on teaching experiences. For schools, TCART4UPK projects elevate and enrich academic environments, and students'  literacies.

In 2017, TCART4UPK kicked-off with artist/educator Max Frieder, painting a Grow Garden Art Mural at The Community Life Center, Head Start School in East Harlem. The mural was painted on what was once a blank wall in the common space hall between the classrooms. The Grow Garden mural and supplemental educational activities provided by TCART4UPK for the preschoolers were an extension of the plant study unit. The TCART4UPK platform provides students with multiple literacy possibilities. Please join us as a financial contributor, as an artist, as a volunteer- as we make schools engaging, creative, and captivating places to learn .
